Facebook Settlement Payout Date Oct/Nov Update

The latest update on the Facebook settlement is that payments won’t be distributed until early 2025 or later due to ongoing appeals. These appeals are delaying the process, and no one will receive any money until they are resolved. Hearings for these appeals are not scheduled until the first half of 2025, and even after that, there might be additional delays before the funds are finally paid out.

The lawsuit was filed against Facebook, accusing them of allowing third-party apps to access users’ data without permission, putting millions of users’ privacy at risk. Due to this, the Federal Court of California approved a $725 million class settlement to compensate those affected by Facebook’s actions.

The deadline to submit claims was August 25, 2023, and those who submitted valid claims were initially expecting payments in early 2024. However, due to the pending appeals, the payments will now likely be made in early 2025 or later.
